The tiny coastal village of Trafalgar is situated about 150 km South of Durban, on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

The main beach has world class Blue Flag status and is great for surfing and swimming. If the conditions allow, the rocky reef just offshore, provides an excellent spot for snorkeling, where you will find fossilised remains of shellfish, various fish species, plant material and petrified wood. These 90 million year old fossil beds are located a short distance from the shoreline, so that at low tide it is possible for visitors to walk out and examine these ancient remains.

The Trafalgar Marine Reserve is a small area extending for 6km along the coast and 500m offshore. The area incorporates the 190ha Mpenjati Nature Reserve.

Bird watching

Located in a prime position on the Hibiscus Coast, our mixture of coastal forest and estuarine habitats means that the birding is vast and offers something for both novice and experienced birders.

Swimming on our beach

Visit our own Blue Flag beach. The water is temptingly warm, making it a popular swimming beach for 365 days of the year. Lifeguards are on duty throughout the year, the bright sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing.

Canoe and paddleboat

Spend a relaxing day on the water. Our beautiful dam is walking distance from our accommodations and is the perfect place for an adventure with family and friends. We provide canoes and paddleboats for free!

Dam & Surf Fishing

Relax on the beach with your feet in the water, or by the side of the lake in the shade, with a fishing rod in your hands. For your convenience, we have fishing rods available for rent, and lures available for purchase.

Several of our accommodations boast braai facilities for those special family dinners under the stars. Don’t miss out on a braai in the heart of the bush. We also have wood, charcoal, firelighters & ice available for purchase.
